King Garoo and Fungo Allucinogeno have their first litter! Black & Blue pups were born May 17, 2017!. We are excited because these are fantastic pups. We will post pictures soon after their birth.

At Andeavor After Neo, good looking dogs are a prime focus. We have been studying and raising Neapolitan Mastiffs for 20 years. During that time we have seen thousands of Neos. Unfortunately many do not look like Neos should. Why?

With the anticipation of the upcoming Super Bowl, the pups could not resist. Since they did not have uniforms, they split up into two teams based on coat color: the "Blacks" and the "Blues". A good time was had by all. The only problem was deflation. That did not bother Ponte. After the game he said "Actually, the game was much easier after deflation . . . the ball was much easier to carry."

According to AKC standards, Neapolitan Mastiffs ears can be natural or cropped. Neos are "working" dogs. One of their jobs is to guard their family and property. Historically, ears were cropped so that invading animals could not grab hold of the Neo by their ears. Kitella is shown with her fresh ear crop. The white cone was quite "scary" to Garoo and Sheeba. At first Kitella wondered why they stayed away from her. But soon she found the cone to be a great advantage as she used it to chase them around the yard!

Probably the most important medical fact that Neo owners should know is about anesthesia. Althoug Neos are large, they take much less anesthesia than other dogs of the same weight. Generally they only need 1/3 to 1/2 of what other dogs need. It is critical that your Vet knows this. EVERY time we have a Neo that needs anesthesia, we remind the Vet - EVERY TIME!

We have never been able to cut our Neo's nails. Even if we could hold them down, it would not be worth it. The stress on both the dog and us is too great. We learned about a "show cut" from our old Vet. He cuts deep into the nail and uses septic to stop any bleeding. The cuts last for months. Generally after the first year, the nails wear out naturally from walking on pavement.
